SCRAPPERS is a series of photographs documenting the lifestyle and environment of Detroiters, often homeless men, who survive by salvaging scrap metal. The finished project also included a sculptural installation - 200lbs of copper wire in a charred cart, and its equivalent of 50 cent caramel corn snacks - the amount a scrapper named Country Boy could buy from the gas station at my corner after smelting and selling this copper. click here to read: Scrappers - Shrinking Cities International Research Text, Volume 1, Hatje Cantz, Berlin, 2004
